Johrei Ceremonies |
The Johrei Fellowship is a multi-cultural, multi-faith, service-oriented organization that embraces the spiritual philosophies of both the eastern and western world, with the mission is to help bring about the transformation of the human spirit. On April 1st, 2001, Johrei welcoming ceremonies were held in five locations around the world, Japan, Thailand, Africa, Brazil, and the US in New York City. All the ceremonies began at 11:00 local time, except in New Your, where it was at 13:00. The Ceremonies last about an hour, with the first 30 minutes given to honors and induction rituals, and the last half-hour is shared celebration. The data from 36 eggs were extracted to correspond to the one-hour ceremony at each location, and then "signal averaged" by superimposing the second-by-second Z-scores to yield a composite Z-score for the hour, summed across the five locations. The UTC times for the beginnings were 02:00, 04:00, 08:00, 13:00, and 14:00, for Japan, Thailand, Africa, New York, and Brazil, respectively. The composite Chisquare for the Johrei Ceremonies is 3758 on 3600 degrees of freedom, corresponding to a p-value of 0.033. The following figure shows the data as a cumulative deviation of Chisquare (or Z²), with a parabola indicating the 5% significance level for the accumulating data. A control comparison, using corresponding data from a pseudorandom source, has Chisquare 3473.1 on 3600 df and p = 0.994. The following graph displays the cumulative deviation of the pseudorandom data. |
