From the prediction registry:
November 6, 2001. Several people have sent the suggestion that a widely
publicized global meditation
on November 11th should be monitored. Barbara Wolf sent a general
description, which proposes a
meditation at 11:00 in your own time zone on the 11th of November,
thus, 11/11/11. She responded to
my question about the length of time to consider by proposing "15
minutes between 11 a.m. and 11:15
a..m. in order to include 11 minutes after the hour. Nov. 11, 11:11
a.m." Independently, Don Watson sent
a note about a proposal to make sounds with voice or instruments at
that time. Both of these suggestions
are propagating over the internet quite widely. The formal
prediction is for a signal averaged composition
across all time zones, using the standard Chisquare analysis, with
the time period set as 11:00 to 11:15.
Seconds resolution, medium expectation.
Because this is not a point-oriented analysis, I decided to use only the
24 hourly epochs of 11/11 relative to GMT, rather than the much more
complex extraction of the half-hour offset timezones for the formal
analysis. The trend is sufficiently strong that it is unlikely that
this decision has a substantial impact. The signal-averaged data for 24
hours has a downward trend reminiscent of other meditative moments (but
is opposite the predicted direction.) Chi-square is 869.31 on 900 df,
for p = 0.763.
